ANZAC DAY APRIL 25

On Anzac Day (Australia, New Zealand Army Corps) April 25 our class celebrated in many ways.  First, we studied all of the customs associated with the day.  We learned that it is a day of remembrance of Australian people who died in wars fighting for their country.  We found it was a lot like Memorial Day in the United States.   We learned they play taps for funerals of people who died in war.  They used a bugle.
We learned about the ANZAC Wall.  We constructed poppies in our class to wear all day in remembrance.
We made a Memorial Wall in our classroom.  We watched an Australian story on United Streaming.  The most exciting thing we did was to make biscuits in the kitchen at school and then ate them (In Australia, biscuits are really cookies in the United States).  We hope to SKYPE with our Phillipine friends before the end of the day to share what we have done to honor ANZAC DAY!
